Third Time's The Charm

Look, I came back to the blog! Wow, I’m as surprised as you are.

I’ve been thinking a lot today about moving. Not just moving, like, a street or two over, but actually moving. Moving out of state somewhere.

It’s been made semi-clear that my job is in jeopardy. A series of management decisions, combined with ‘hooray for capitalism’ maneuvers, means that a company I helped grow over ten years will likely not exist in a few months. If that’s the case, it seems like a time to make a clean break, start over, and see what happens from there.

I did a comparison of similar places to where I live, and there are some promising options:

  • Minneapolis - Not the sexiest option, but the trees are pretty, and I don’t mind cold weather.

  • Phoenix - I’ve been there, and it’s not my favorite place on the planet, because it’s pretty hot.

  • Vienna - Yeah, seriously, like, out of the country. Apparently that’s an option based on my salary and skills. I’m as confused as you are.

Anyway, I don’t know what the right option is. Normally I would think it’s a passing flight of fancy or something, but I think the point at which you start thinking about moving, like, every couple weeks, you should probably act on that. I could use the adventure.
